Safe Minds, Safe Workplaces: Psychologically Safe Leadership

Leaders play an important role in creating workplaces where people feel respected, supported, and able to speak up. Psychologically safe leadership is reflected in everyday behaviours, interactions, and decisions, not just policies or programs.

This practical, interactive session explores what psychologically safe leadership looks like in action and how leaders can create conditions where workers feel comfortable raising concerns, asking questions, sharing ideas, and speaking openly about workplace challenges.

Participants will:

  • Recognize the behaviours and practices that contribute to psychologically safe leadership.
  • Explore how leaders can build trust, respect, and openness through everyday interactions.
  • Identify ways to respond constructively when workers raise concerns or make mistakes.
  • Consider how leadership behaviours can either strengthen or undermine psychological health and safety.
  • Identify practical actions leaders can take to create a more supportive and psychologically safe workplace.
